Knitwear Design (KD)
The B.Des. in Knitwear Design program at NIFT focuses on equipping students with expertise in designing knitted garments and fashion products. The program spans diverse categories such as activewear, casual wear, intimate apparel, and children’s wear. It blends creative and technical skills with a deep understanding of knitwear production processes and the evolving demands of the fashion industry.
Objective:
The aim of the program is to provide students with:
· Comprehensive knowledge of knitwear materials, knitting technologies, and garment construction techniques.
· The ability to design fashion-forward, functional, and commercially viable knitwear products.
· Skills in flat knitting, circular knitting, pattern development, and garment production for various knitwear segments.
· Insights into sustainable practices in knitwear design, with a focus on innovative materials and eco-friendly production techniques.
